Ceramics: My New Favorite Class

I finished my ceramics project early, and as a result got to do an extra credit project and make whatever I wanted. I decided to make Moya, the ship from Farscape, because she is awesome and pretty. So, I'm sitting there, molding clay, when my teacher, Mr Parker, comes over and asks what I'm making, I will now recreate this conversation for you.

Mr. Parker: What are you making?
Me: A space ship.
Mr. Parker: Romulan or Klingon?
Me:ASKFDKLNDIGFSFE! You watch Star Trek! (ok it wasn't that spastic, but in my head I was freaking out). No, sorry, a different ship, but I do love Trek.
Mr. Parker:Do you like Thi Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?
Me:Yes, I love it!
Mr. Parker:Did you read the books? Because I was dissapointed with the new movie, but I have the old radio plays, which are great.
Me: Yes, I've read them, they are great! I was a bit dissapointed with the movei too.

He left me to my work then came back when I was almost done. The ship actually looked like Moya, and I was very proud of myself. Then the teacher came back. . .

Mr. Parker: Oh! is that the ship from farscape? The one thats alive?
Me: Yes! Its Moya! I love farscape!
Mr. Parker: Its a great show, and you did a good job on Moya.

I leterally could not stop smiling, this made my entire week! I have never met anyone in real life that watched Farscape, and Mr. Parker just became my favorite teacher.

Also, I learned that ceramicist is a word, everyone thought my friend Ally made it up.

Messing around with Photoshop

Yesterday afternoon I was messing around with photoshop with some gorgeous pictures of Rhythmic gymnastics. You know, that sport in the olympics with the ribbons and hoops that everyone always makes fun of? Its actually really cool, especially at the elite level. And it is very pretty. So, these are the results. Most of them aren't edited alot because the pictures were so beautiful, and I have zero photoshop skills. There is however, some lensflare!

Look I Made a Picspam!

Picspams are probably one of my favorite things in the entire world. So I decided to try my hand at one. The current challenge at Picspammy is "Something different", which, because I have never really done a picspam before, means I can do whatever I want. This led my to Jeanine Mason, winner of So You Think You Can Dance season 5.

Dance vs. Hockey: The Decision

Since I started high school, dance and hockey have been fighting for my attention. I had stopped dancing for two years before that, but once I got to high school, I just said fuck it, I want to dance. For the past two years that has been fine with me, splitting my time between dance and hockey. The problem was that if there was a conflict, hockey always won. This summer something happened, and I realized my passion for dance. The problem is, I have already signed up for hockey, and I am currently playing on two different teams. Even still, I've been thinking about quitting hockey for dance. Another problem with leaving hockey is My mother also plays hockey, and she loves it more than anything. I thought that she would be devastated if I said I didn't want to play anymore. I got up the guts to tell her a few days ago, and she was fine with it, I mean, she is my mother, so she'll support me whatever I do, but she was much less disappointed then I thought she would be. My guess is she's seen this coming for a while.

Even though my mum is fine with it. I am still dedicated to hockey. I think I will play for this year, but senior year I'll take all of the classes I can, just to make sure this isn't some short lived obsession with dance. I did some thinking and discovered I could take 2 Irish classes, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, hip-hop(which I am horrible at), and 2 ballet classes in a week. That's a lot, but if I'm going to start with only one year left at home, I might as well throw myself at it full force.

The thing is, I keep thinking about how good dance feels, and all of the bad things about hockey, and I want to start dancing right now. I never really fit in at hockey, everyone is very loud and confident, while I am quiet and shy. And although I love my teammates to death, they tend to push me to the side. I also sit on the bench on my hockey team, but at dance everyone is included. So, even though I have already made the decision to stick with hockey this year, I keep doubting myself, and wanting to dance, right now.

Also, if you will excuse the giantness of this post, my inspiration and hero, Jeanine Mason.

So You Think You Can Dance Tour!

Tuesday was the Boston stop for the season 5 So You Think You Can Dance tour, and I WAS THERE. Seriously, this was amazing. My seats were actually really far back, but I just knelt on my chair and I could se the stage perfectly. The dances were all amazing, and basically every one of my favorite dances were performed. Also, THERE WAS A RUSSIAN FOLK DANCE GROUP NUMBER! It was epic! They also did Calle Ocho, which was the hottest group dance this season, there was even water on the tables like in the original performance.

After the show, we (that being my mom and I) found the barricades for the meet and greet and hung around. Then, to my mother's horror, a security guard told us the top 12 wouldn't be out until midnight, and it was still only 10:30. My mom was pissed off, but I convinced her to stay. I made friends with the girls standing next to me, so it was a good time. Finally, a little after midnight, Phillip came out. We all freaked out like the fangirls we are, and he signed autographs and took pictures. After that, the entire top 12 came out one by one.

(no subject)

This Monday, I had my first official Irish dance class. I went to camp this summer, but according to The All Powerful Irish Dance Commision, also known as CLRG, that doesn't count. Since camp, I've been pretty much obsessed with Irish dance, which led my to an obsession with Irish dance dresses. Once you get to a certain level of competition, you get your own dress, custom made, even designed by you. So I wanted to design my own, and was inspired by a skirt I found while out school shopping last week.

Pictures behind the cut )

In other news-AP Physics is hard! My teacher essentialy does not teach. Luckily, I'm not the only one who is lost. And half of my class is getting tutors.

Also, I apologize for the obscene amount of Irish dance content.

Meme

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

[info]jazzonia asked me:

1. Who is your favorite character from the history boys? Why?

This is hard, but I have to go with Scripps. I don't exactly know why, but its probably because he gets some of the best lines. I'm sorry, I am absolutely horrible at picking favorites.

2. What are five of your goals? Can be short- or long-term, silly or serious.

Ok, here we go, I've got a few serious ones to start:
1. Make second line on my schools hockey team ( yep, I play ice hockey) I've been sitting on the bench for the past 2 years and I really want to play this year.
2. Get 1st, 2nd or 3rd in my dances at my schools feis. I just started Irish dance this summer, and in May my dance school holds a competition, called a feis(pronounced fesh). I am the oldest beginner in the school, so hopefully I can beat the 6 year olds. lol
3. Get in to the National Honor Society. This probably isn't going to happen but, I am going to try anyways.
Now for silly/not related to real life:
4. Finish watching Farscape. I frelling love this show! But I still have 3 seasons to watch, plus a miniseries! I'll get it done, eventually.
5. STOP LURKING! I have been way to shy on lj. I joined to be a part of fandom, but I haven't been doing a very good job of that. But THAT WILL CHANGE! promise.

3. Favorite show that once was, or currently is, on Broadway?

Currently, I'm absolutely in love with In the Heights. I've actually loved it since it premiered off-broadway, but I have never been able to go see it. But, thanks to the awesome that is a national tour, that will soon be changed.

4. Describe your perfect day.

It would probably start with a good breakfast, involving tons of bacon and pancakes. Then I would like to play hockey, then just hang out with my team, and probably eat some more, haha. Then go see a play or musical, (most likely a musical, and  preferably In the Heights) and then I would like some pie, just because I can. Its also probably bad that my perfect day is centered around eating.

5.  Best moment from ST: XI?

Oh my. Again, I am horribly indecisive, and its been a while since I've seen it soo. . .I rather like emotional Spock attacking Kirk, but for funny moments "I can do zat!" is great.

So You Think You Can Dance Wallpaper

In a fit of boredom (and frustration, because my math homework is impossible!) I decided to make a wall for my favorite SYTYCDer Jeanine, seriously, she kicks ass! (examples 1, 2 and 3) This is only my second wallpaper ever, and it was made very quickly so its not the best, but i tried. There are 3 variations to the wall, one without text and 2 with text

A Big Change

This afternoon, I finally got around to getting my hair cut, after about a year of just letting it grow. Up until now I have left my hair natural, that is, straight and blonde. Also, because of not bothering to cut it for the past year, it was really really long (like almost to my butt long). But, I was getting bored of my hair and its awkward tendency to curl in some places but not others. So I decided to get it permed wavy, and cut it to a few inches below my shoulders. The perm came out curlier than I expected but it still looks good, and my head feels so much lighter without all of that hair. Moral of the story: I LOVE IT!! I wish i had pictures but i was too lazy =P

Random stuff to look forward to this summer

So since I know that no one reads this because i have been being way to shy on lj, i have been a bit lax when it comes to posting. To make up for this i have a list of some things that have really been making  my summer.
FIRST UP- TV:

1) Warehouse 13- its a new sci-fi chanel (ahem, sorry "Sy-Fy" chanel) series about government agents who essentially collect stuff to put in a warehouse. Sounds dumb right? Its not, honestly. There is some great chemistry between the cast and my personal favorite, HISTORICAL REFERNCES!!! I mean, the first episode included Lucrezia Borgia!

2) Eureka- Again on the SyFy chanel, this great show is back for another season. Basic premise: in a town full od geniuses anythin can happen. And it does. Its funny and cute and references pretty much every other sci-fi show out there.

3) Leverage- I really have no clue what chanel its on, but somehow i always find it. A team of theives steal from corrupt businessmen and companies to help the little guy. Again more sci-fi references, one of the thieves is a super nerd. One thing that bugs me is that the production team always wants to do more with special effects than they can afford, so it ends up looking like shit. Seriously, if you want to land an airplane on a highway you better be able to pay for it.

4) Torchwood- Children of Earth- The Doctor Who spinoff for adults will finally air in the US this week and I AM PUMPED! Although i was spoiled for some major plot points, which make me not really want to watch, because i will cry!

5) So You Think You Can Dance- At first i missed everyone from season four. But now that season 5 is really going, i am loving it. Janine is my absolute favorite, she's amazing and sooooo adorable, along with Evan and Jason, who are also great dancers and too cute for words!

NEXT UP-RANDOM STUFF(in the real world)

1) THE GYM! I know it sounds horrible but honestly i love it. My gym is a total party gym, complete with music and random dancing( seriously, we dance). Also i am with an awesome group of girls who all play hockey like me, and a trainer who is absolutely batshit crazy, in a good way.

2) Irish dance-Next week i am starting irish dancing, and it is impossible to explain how excited i am. After a week long camp, i am going to a local feis( pronounced fesh, its a competition) to get my shoes, and see what irish dancing is all about.

WOAH long post!
Also, I have been working on my photoshop skills and hopefully i will have some icons up soon. YAY!

First actual post comes with a wallpaper!

So I made my first excursion into the world of photoshop. On a friday night. And then I fell asleep at 8. Because I live and exciting life like that. Anyway, the result of this photoshop experience is a Legend of the Seeker wallpaper. I'm pretty proud of it and now that sort of know what im doing, this journal will actually have stuff in it.  I am thinking about making my next foray into fandom for my new favorite thin Star Trek, because that movie was the shit! Plus ending every sentence with "Kirk out" is just amazing. So, Eva out! haha :)

OH NOES! There is nothing here!

Hey so this is my first (and really quite useless) post to livejournal. Shortly i will begin work on some icons and other graphics and post them here but for now it is a blank page. I've been a lj lurker for a while now and since i just got a new laptop i finally decided to get one of my own. Also in the news department: as of today I can drive!!! WEEE!!
